SPECIAL DIVINE ENCOUNTER

Bible Passage: MARK 5:22-24, 35-43 Mar 5:22 — Mar 5:24 (CWSB) 22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, 23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. 24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him. Mar 5:35 — Mar 5:43 35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? 36 -- As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. 37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. 38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. 39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. 40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. 41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

*It is possible for God to take someone from being a beggar to be dining with kings. 1Sam. 2:7-8
*Num. 20:1-11- God can bring something out of nothing in an overflowing manner.
*2Kgs. 4:1-7 – God can take a destitute and move the person to a level where s/he can have more than enough.

***We will consider three cases:
1. Jairus’ daughter
*When she died, an only daughter, she wasn’t just dying financially but maritally.
*A whole generation was dying with her because she was the only daughter. Then she had an encounter with God and the tide turned.
*It doesn’t matter how low you her, just an encounter with God can pick you from where you are and lift you up very high.
*We wouldn’t have known of the father without his daughter.

**LESSONS
A. The fact that your miracle is delayed doesn’t mean that the miracle won’t happen.
*There was an interruption from behind. She delayed Jesus. Mk. 5:25-34.
*Has your miracle been delayed? It is so that your miracle can be bigger. If He had arrived, she would have been healed instead of being resurrected.
2. He who laughs last laughs best. Dan. 3:1-30
*Do you really think the enemy who has been hindering is causing your delay? Don’t worry, God is on the throne and your testimonies will be bigger.
*Rev. 1:18.
*Matt. 27:40-42. They told Him
3. When God wants to do something for you mightily, He needs to get rid of fake friends.
*The enemies quickly switched from mocking to laughing.
*Some blessings are for you alone.
*Gen. 12:1-14. Abraham took Lot with him instead of going alone.
*Gen. 13:1-18. God spoke to Abraham after Lot departed.
*Fake sympathisers must be exposed and separated.
*2Kgs. 4:1-7. Certain miracles are not supposed to be exposed to your neighbours.
*There are some blessings that must be private. There are testimonies that must not be shared until it is complete.
*Elijah – He prayed once and there was Divine response but when he announced the coming of the miracle before it came, he had to pray seven times.
3. After the Lord raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead, He instructed that she should be given something to eat.
*Ps. 1:1-3.
When the miracles come, don’t forget God.

***CONCLUSION
*This girl played no part at all in the divine encounter but her father.
*You need your father’s blessing.
*He who has a father will go further.
*Please, do everything possible to get your father’s blessing.
*At least once a year,do something that will make your father say GOD BLESS YOU.
*Particularly your spiritual father.
2. Gal. 2:20-22
*When the Almighty God blesses you, don’t forget Him. Make sure you serve with everything He brings your way.

12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, — behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

Notes:

Luke 5:1-9 KJV

Vs 1

“And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret

Vs 2

And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

Vs 3

And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

Vs 4

Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

Vs 5

And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Vs 6

And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

Vs 7

And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

Vs 8

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

Vs 9

For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:”

Luke 5:1-9 KJV

✓ Peter was frustrated, embarrassed & overwhelmed when he could not catch any fish after toiling all night, with his colleagues

✓ He didn’t think of going to God with his burdens

✓ When Jesus spoke with him, he decided to do as Jesus commanded

✓ Jesus is willing to partner with us to bring us closer to Him

✓ Peter nearly threw away the cup of salvation

✓ But he received the grace of God

Psalms 116:16-17 KJV

Vs 16

“O Lord, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

Vs 17

I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.”

Psalms 116:16-17 KJV

✓ David said he’ll lift up his cup of salvation with thanksgiving

✓ To render means to give up, to surrender, give up something for another thing

✓ What can you & I give to God as an act of gratitude

✓ To render means to pay what is due

✓ Jesus commanded the disciples to give unto Caesar what is Caesar’s & unto God what is due to Him

✓ We live in a generation that do not want to pay taxes to the govt, let alone give what is due to God

✓ With what act or intention or attitude have we brought to the house of God to appreciate Him, for all He’s done for us

✓ This is the 2nd month in 2021, have we come to complain, or to recount that we’ve done so much for God & received little in return

Psalms 103:1-2 KJV

Vs 1

“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Vs 2

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:”

Psalms 103:1-2 KJV

✓ What can we surrender to appreciate what God has done for us?

✓ Though David knew that God is self sufficient, yet he made up his mind to give something special to God

✓ He said he’ll not give unto God, that which will cost him nothing

✓ David wondered what He can render to God for all that God has done for him

Raise my cup of salvation

✓ As human beings, our cups are never full

✓ We always want more of blessings, money, provisions etc

✓ David knew however that his cup will always overflow when he praise God

✓ As we raise up our cup of salvation through praise, we are lifted financially

✓ Jesus took the cup of death to give us life

✓ All God demand from us is our praise

✓ As we engage in divine partnership with God, we must endeavour to lift up our cup of salvation of praise, gratitude & appreciation

1 Kings 18:25 -40 KJV

Vs 18

“And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.”

1 Kings 18:25 -40 KJV

✓ When Elijah praised God, the Lord answered by fire as he requested, shaming the baal’s worshippers

✓ David made a vow to God to show his appreciation

✓ Vow means a solemn pledge; a personal solemn promise

✓ Divine partnership gives us the opportunity to pay our vows to God

✓ Redeeming our vows yields restoration

✓ God delights in our praise always, not sometimes

✓ We must endeavour to lift up our cup of salvation to always show God our appreciation
